H.E. Ahmed Maalem Faqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, conducted high-level researches with his counterpart, H.E. Mr. Badr Abdel-Atty, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Sister Arab Republic of Egypt, the two sides discussed the prospects of cooperation between Somalia and Egypt in various areas of common interest, the two sides also agreed on the importance of strengthening relations The bilateral between the two countries to the strategic partnership level.
The two sides reviewed the developments of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and emphasized the importance of strengthening and improving trade relations between the two countries through the Somali-Egyptian Forum to be held in the capital Cairo in the last half of January next year.
H.E. Mr. Ahmed Maalem Faqi praised the distinguished role of the sister Arab Republic of Egypt in rebuilding the Somali state and standing by the side of Somalia in maintaining its sovereignty, unity and the security of its territories, emphasizing the commitment of the Federal Republic of Somalia to all the agreements it has signed with the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In his turn, his excellency confirmed Mr. D. Badr Abdel-Atty Egypt’s full support to Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, independence and the safety of its territories within the framework of international law, indicating that Egypt continues to support the Somali government and its national institutions.
