Ayrotv.com- London- In the heart of the Somali landscape, where the echoes of history intertwine with the aspirations for a brighter future, a stark reality confronts us. As Somali intellectuals and leaders, we find ourselves at a crossroads, faced with profound questions about our commitment to nationalism and the welfare of our people. In this era, when our very existence is threatened, it is imperative to examine the choices we make and the paths we tread.

The specter of tribalism looms large over our nation, creating divisions that have led to the tragic loss of life among our fellow Somalis. We stand in the 21st century, where many African leaders, such as Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso and Assimi Goita of Mali, have united their people against existential threats, refusing to allow their citizens to be victims of violence. Yet, we witness a different narrative unfold within our borders, where tribal loyalties overshadow our shared identity as Somalis.

How can we, as so-called leaders, permit the ongoing violation of Somalia’s territorial integrity? The presence of foreign armies on our soil, particularly from neighboring countries that have historically infringed upon our sovereignty, raises alarming questions about our commitment to national pride and unity. These leaders, who seemingly prioritize personal gain over the welfare of our nation, betray the very essence of patriotism.

Moreover, we grapple with the troubling reality of secessionist sentiments in the North, where some factions openly challenge the idea of a united Somalia. How can individuals who do not believe in our collective identity occupy seats in Parliament? Their presence undermines the political fabric necessary for the resurgence of a cohesive Somali state.

As we observe other nations, like Ethiopia, asserting their right to intervene in our affairs due to their losses in the AU mission, we must confront the absurdity of this claim. The sacrifices made by soldiers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India in various conflict zones do not grant those nations a foothold in those territories. Why, then, do we acquiesce to such demands from our neighbors?

The time has come for Somali leaders to awaken from this state of confusion and complacency. We must recognize that we are living through a pivotal moment in history. The world is evolving, and only the powerful will thrive. Our natural resources, once a cornerstone of our sovereignty, are being exploited under our very noses, and it is our responsibility to reclaim our narrative and our rights.

Let us unite in a renewed commitment to our nation. It is now or never. Together, we can forge a path that honors our shared heritage and ensures a future where Somali voices are heard, respected, and celebrated. The call for unity resonates louder than ever—let us answer it with unwavering resolve and a fierce dedication to the Somali people.
