Somalia and Egypt strengthen their long-term partnership with historic agreements
Cairo, January 23 / Canon 2nd 2025 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Ahmed Ma’alam Faqi Ahmed, signed today, Thursday, in Cairo, two agreements with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and the Affairs of Egyptians Abroad in the sister Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, covering a wide range of areas, including cooperation In the realm of diplomatic training, the mutual waiver of visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders, symbolizes an important step forward in deepening bilateral relations and strengthening the historical links between the two countries.
The countries have agreed to a visa waiver, which allows citizens of both countries with valid diplomatic passports to enter, exit, travel and reside in the territories of the other party for not exceeding 90 days from the date of entry without a prior visa.
The signing ceremony was honored by the presence of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, and his brother, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Abdul Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil El-Sisi, and their presence emphasizes the strong commitment of both countries to improve diplomatic relations and consolidate cooperation on various economic, political, security and cultural levels.
These agreements aim to foster relations and co-ordination between the two sister countries, open up broader horizons for cooperation, create new avenues for mutual benefit, benefit from increased exchange of trade, culture and shared experience, contribute to regional stability by harmonizing the interests of the two countries and foster a spirit of mutual respect, understanding and partnership to achieve positive long-term outcomes.
