Is Abiy Ahmed Selling Ethiopia and Destroying Centuries of History?

Ayrotv.com-Addiss Ababa– Since Abiy Ahmed took office as Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the nation has entered a tumultuous phase, raising concerns about the survival of its rich cultural heritage and historical legacy. The current political and economic climate has led many to question whether Abiy’s policies are benefiting Ethiopia or jeopardizing its future.

Under Abiy’s leadership, tensions have escalated with neighbouring countries, including Eritrea, Sudan, and Kenya. Ethiopia’s actions, particularly in relation to Somalia, where agreements have been made with regional leaders that bypass central authority, have raised alarms about sovereignty and territorial integrity. These developments have contributed to a growing perception of Ethiopia as an unreliable partner in the Horn of Africa.

Internally, the situation is dire. The country is grappling with food insecurity, civil unrest, and a humanitarian crisis, which has been exacerbated by ongoing conflicts in various regions. Reports indicate that the government is confiscating fertile lands from local farmers, selling them to wealthy investors from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and even foreign billionaires like Bill Gates. This has sparked outrage among Ethiopians who feel their land and livelihoods are being sacrificed for the profit of a few.

While Abiy’s administration has made some superficial efforts to modernize the capital, Addis Ababa, such as constructing new buildings, these developments stand in stark contrast to the grim reality faced by the majority of citizens. Inflation has soared, trust among communities has eroded, and civil strife has turned neighbours into adversaries. The social fabric that once united Ethiopians is now fraying, leading to a climate of fear and uncertainty.

The historical significance of Ethiopia can not be understated; it is a nation that has maintained its sovereignty for centuries and is home to a diverse tapestry of cultures and traditions. The self-inflicted wounds of the current administration threaten to unravel this legacy. As the people of Ethiopia face unprecedented challenges, there is a growing call for unity and action. Many believe it is imperative for Ethiopians to reclaim their country from what they perceive as a disastrous leadership.

In conclusion, as Abiy Ahmed’s government continues down a path that many view as detrimental to the nation’s future, it is crucial for the Ethiopian people to mobilize and advocate for their rights. The time has come for citizens to stand up against policies that not only endanger their livelihoods but also jeopardize the rich history and cultural heritage that define Ethiopia. The hope is that through collective action, Ethiopians can safeguard their country and restore the trust that has been lost both domestically and internationally.
