A Call to the Somali People: Exposing a Conspiracy to Silence Justice

By Dr. Abdillahi Hashi Abib, MP
March 25, 2025

Today, I stand before the Somali people unshaken and unafraid, determined to unveil a meticulously orchestrated plot aimed at silencing me. This is not a personal battle—it is a fight for the soul of Somalia. A powerful alliance of senior officials, secessionist supporters, and opportunistic politicians has united with one goal: to remove me from the House of the People. Their motive is not rooted in any wrongdoing on my part, but in my unwavering courage to confront corruption, oppose secessionist agendas, and defend the rights of the Somali people.

For three years, I have tirelessly worked to safeguard Somalia’s sovereignty, expose rampant corruption, and advocate for justice for all Somali citizens. These efforts have made me a target of a formidable coalition determined to eliminate anyone who dares to challenge their grip on power.

This coalition includes the President of Somalia, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Planning, the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Speaker of the Upper House, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the leader of the secessionist administration in Hargeysa. Together, they have sought to silence me after I fearlessly exposed their corruption, lies, and human rights abuses.

Particularly incensed are the leaders of the secessionist movement in Hargeysa and Mogadishu—namely the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Speaker of the Upper House, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Hargeysa secessionist leader. Hailing from a single clan with separatist ambitions, they have taken umbrage at my resolute stance against their fabrications and crimes. I have brought global attention to the massacres they perpetrated in SSC Khaatumo and the ongoing oppression of the Awdal people, who suffer simply for rejecting imposed rule and demanding their rightful self-determination.

Rather than face the truth, these corrupt figures have weaponized millions of dollars in public funds, bribes, and looted resources to wage a relentless campaign to oust me—sanctioned by none other than the President of Somalia himself. This is not good governance. This is not democracy. This is the behavior of criminal politicians acting like common thieves.

When their initial illegal attempt to remove me from Parliament failed, they resorted to even more sinister tactics. The Minister of Public Works—previously the Minister of Finance until sacked by the President in July 2023—has now been tasked with executing their scheme. He is working directly with the unlawfully appointed National Elections Committee to intimidate and coerce traditional elders from my community. Their goal? To force the elders to replace me as the representative for seat HOP #201, threatening to reassign the seat to another Somali clan if they refuse.

This blatant political interference violates the Carta Political Agreement and the 4.5 power-sharing framework, which guarantee fair and equal representation for all. The traditional elders—long the backbone of our political system and guardians of our heritage—are now being pressured and exploited for selfish gain, further exposing the depths of corruption these conscienceless individuals are willing to plumb.

Compounding this travesty, the Minister of Public Works, instead of defending his people, has chosen to serve as a lackey for his successor, the current Minister of Finance. Rather than standing for justice, he now aids those funding my removal, using Somali taxpayers’ money and international aid—meant for national development—to bankroll a political vendetta against anyone who opposes them.

Let me be clear: I will not be intimidated. I will not back down. I will not betray the trust of the Somali people who elected me.

I have sworn to serve Somalia, and I will not abandon that duty. I will continue the fight for justice, exposing corruption and defending our nation’s sovereignty. No one is above the law—not the President, not the Speaker of Parliament, not the Ministers, nor any secessionist leader.

To the Somali people, I issue this call: Stand against corruption, political plunder, and oppression. Those trying to silence me today will target you tomorrow. Somalia belongs to its people—not to a handful of corrupt politicians who seek to buy its future.

This struggle is not mine alone—it is Somalia’s struggle. I will stand firm until our nation is freed from the clutches of those intent on its destruction.

May Allah protect Somalia and its people.
