Condemnation of the Ethiopian Army’s Actions in Somalia.

Ayrotv.com- Today, the Ethiopian army’s aggressive actions in Dolo town, where they are reported to have attacked the Somali National Army (SNA) alongside tribal militias from Jubbaland, raise serious concerns about Ethiopia’s intentions in the region. This blatant act of hostility not only undermines Somalia’s sovereignty but also threatens the very fabric of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

The question arises: what is Ethiopia’s endgame? The continued military incursions suggest a strategy aimed at undermining Somali unity and fostering divisions among its tribes. By aligning with certain tribal militias, Ethiopia seems to be pursuing a path that could lead to further fragmentation of Somalia. This raises alarms about a potential annexation plan, which, if successful, could reshape the geopolitical landscape of the region to Ethiopia’s advantage.

An equally troubling aspect of this situation is the role of Turkey. There are growing concerns about whether Turkey is complicit in Ethiopia’s annexation ambitions. The recent acceptance of Turkish mediation by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud raises eyebrows, given Turkey’s historical and strategic ties to Ethiopia. This partnership could be perceived as a betrayal to the Somali people, who have long looked to their Arab neighbors, particularly Egypt, for support in safeguarding their territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Ethiopia has consistently proven itself to be an existential threat to Somalia. Its actions in the region have demonstrated a disregard for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Somali government must recognize that trusting Ethiopia is a grave mistake. The Ethiopian military’s encroachments are not isolated incidents but part of a broader campaign that seeks to exert control over Somali land and resources.

In light of these developments, it is imperative for the Somali people to cancel any future engagements with Ethiopia. Instead, Somalia should seek to strengthen its ties with Egypt and other Arab nations that share an interest in preserving Somalia’s sovereignty. Collaborative efforts with Egypt will not only bolster Somalia’s military capabilities but also provide a platform for diplomatic initiatives aimed at countering Ethiopian aggression.

President Hassan Sheikh must reevaluate his stance and leadership. His approach, perceived by many as weak, has led to an erosion of trust among the Somali populace. The time has come for him to cease his conciliatory gestures towards the Ethiopian leadership, especially towards Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, whose regime has been accused of committing atrocities against various ethnic groups, including the Oromo and Tigrayans.

It is essential for Somali military leaders, politicians, elders, and all nationalist and patriotic citizens to unite in defence of their country. The call to action is clear: stand up for Somalia’s dignity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The time for complacency has passed; it is time to act decisively to protect the future of Somalia.

In conclusion, the Ethiopian army’s recent actions in Somalia are a clarion call for all Somalis to come together. It is a moment to reflect on alliances and strategies that will secure Somalia’s place in the region. Let us reject any attempts at division and instead embrace a collective vision for a sovereign and unified Somalia.
