New Cross-Border Bus Service Launches Between Addis Ababa and Nairobi

By AyroTV News Desk

A new chapter in East African connectivity has opened with the launch of a luxury cross-border bus service linking Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, Kenya. The service, operated under the brand name Abyssinia, aims to provide passengers with a safe, comfortable, and affordable travel option between the two capitals.

The newly unveiled fleet features modern Scania buses equipped with spacious reclining seats, air conditioning, onboard entertainment, and free Wi-Fi, promising a premium travel experience for both leisure and business passengers.

The Addis Ababaโ€“Nairobi route is expected to strengthen trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Ethiopia and Kenya, two of the regionโ€™s largest economies. The new service offers an alternative to air travel, providing passengers with an affordable yet comfortable option for long-distance travel.

Speaking during the launch, company representatives emphasized that the buses meet international safety standards and will operate on a fixed schedule to ensure reliability. The journey, which takes approximately 24 hours, will include stopovers in key towns along the route, allowing travelers to experience the landscapes and cultures between the two capitals.

Regional transport analysts say the move could boost cross-border commerce, especially for small traders and frequent travelers who rely on affordable transport options.

The Abyssinia service is now operational, with bookings available both online and through partner agencies in Ethiopia and Kenya.
